But there's a catch
If you wanted to hear messy, only slightly-made-up dramas from families you otherwise had no reason to care about back in the ‘90s, your options were limited. The reality TV explosion had yet to happen, and there weren’t a stable of famous-for-being-too-much people to fill out the tabloids with their every move.
People who wanted a dose of the dysfunctional had The National Enquirer’s latest Bat Boy story and Jerry Springer. Both shows attract the same sort of spectacle seekers, so it was only a matter of time before the world’s of the half-fake and the totally fake collided. That came when viewers discovered a video of Anais from Love & Hip-Hop: New York on the regularly destroyed set of Springer.
Naturally, Anais’ story on the old talk show is wild. During a 2002 appearance on the show, she claimed that she was impregnated by her trans roommate and things get heated. While fans were quick to run with the story, Anais had to put on her Patrick Stewart voice to let the people know she was acting and that the story was a total fabrication.
She said that she believed the appearance on Springer might help her land future roles. That move obviously didn’t pan out. She also asked that fans stop sending her the clip because she’s well aware of the silly things she did in her teenage years and doesn’t need reminding. She explained on Instagram:
“Yes we all have a past that sometimes can speak for who we are or sometimes not cause we all grow and change there’s times when you want to make it and you find a shot and you think it mite work but it dint go no where well that’s all that happen so with this said stop sending me this cause that’s my past and that’s where it should stay ya dint make it relevant when I was 17 don’t make it now.”
She added that the supposed roommate who impregnated her on the show is actually her cousin, who was also acting. She wrote:
“Ao there it is and that’s my cousin by the way Reaaaaaal cousin yes my great grandma it’s my cousin grandma @Nikoletas2hot love how now people want to talk about this and when I post it 5 years ago they don’t care for it that’s to show you you can work now and your work can show 20 years later amen for that now like I said let’s leave the past alone” she wrote.Nicoleta sent me more pics of us as kids ♥️”
As for moving on, the LHHNY recently posted on Instagram that she’s back in the studio. She’s working on an album down in Miami and clearly looking to put as much distance between her current self and her 17-year-old self as she can.

In between then and now, of course, Anais found fame as the winner of the reality competition Objectivo Fama. She released two succesful albums and had a huge hit with her cover of “Lo Que Son Las Cosas.” Her arc of LHHNY centers arounf her getting back into the swing that made her a hit on the Latin charts.
Check out the truly insane clip up top. What do you think? Should we give Anais a pass for making dumb decisions when she was 17? Do we owe Jerry Springer for the reality TV world we have now? Sound off in the comments and don’t forget to SHARE this article.
