KeKe Wyatt was not ready for this
KeKe Wyatt is currently going through it. The R&B singer behind early ‘00s hits like “My First Love” and “Nothing In This World” shared news of an upcoming divorce on social media.
In the tearful clip, Wyatt let her fans know that her husband has decided to step out at the worst possible time. Wyatt — who is eight months pregnant and is watching another of her children go through cancer treatment — seemed to be in shock as she relayed the news.
“You want to know something, America?” she said through sobs. “When you eight months pregnant and you got a child sick in and out of the hospital and your husband got the nerve to tell you that he wants a divorce. Because he says that you’re an emotional wreck, he says that ‘From the very beginning you never trusted me’ and all that kind of stuff. Like, yeah. Telling other people, other women that we getting a divorce. If she calls, it’s like what?”
Wyatt quickly turned angry at the end of the clip, calling on her fans to attack her soon-to-be ex-husband.
Not The First Sign
I am so done with Michael Jamar,” she said. “Y’all can have him and roast his a**. I don’t care.”
Wyatt also blamed the split on her percieved emotional distance.
“That’s not love,” she wrote in an Instagram caption. “And y’all wonder why I’m always stuck in a shell or have a wall up.”
In the video, KeKe is rocking a short-hair style after shaving her head in solidarity with her child who is fighting cancer. She announced that the family was dealing with a cancer diagnosis earlier this summer:
“Plz pray for my family,” she wrote. “Haven’t really said too much about my personal life, But my child has been fighting cancer and lost all of their hair that they loved. It hurts me so bad.”
KeKe’s unborn child will be her eighth and her fifth with her husband Michael Jamar Ford, who also has a child from a previous marriage. However, if what she says is true, she may have to care for the infant without his help.
“We come from big families where I’m from,” Wyatt explained when she announced that she was pregnant again. “Everyone knows my work doesn’t stop when I’m pregnant so I’m excited to continue performing and traveling around the world.”
Is He Wrong?
It’s not the first sign of trouble for the long-time couple. The pair appeared on the WE TV series Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars to deal with issues in their marriage alongside stars of The Bachelor and Basketball Wives.
During one particularly fraught argument over a couples exercise, Wyatt nearly called off their marriage.
“You can just go kill yourself,” she shouted at her husband. “You can go float in the river!”
Michael Ford has yet to respond, but fans have trawled Wyatt’s Instagram for posts featuring him to trash her husband.
“F*ck him, KeKe,” wrote one fan on a picture of the couple from June. “Do better.”
What do you think? Should KeKe have put this news out on the wire? Is Michael Ford wrong to step out at this exact moment? Should he have to hang around if their marriage isn’t working?
