Is 'Love & Hip Hop' a sham?
Joseline Hernandez wants us all to pay attention to the man behind the curtain for a second.
While all reality TV shows come with a certain suspicion of disbelief and the knowledge that the conflicts are being gassed up by producers and clever editing, the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star just claimed that producers give people drugs and tell them who to fight in order to goose their views.
Joseline’s candid remarks came in response to Kathy Griffin’s 17-minute video alleging that Andy Cohen offered her cocaine several times before tapings of Cohen’s talk show Watch What Happens Live.
“Why she act like this is new,” Joseline responded to the news in a series of Instagram comments. “All the reality shows give cast members drugs alcohol and they tell you who to beat up too.”
Joseline also suggested that Griffin should keep that under wraps and deal with these sort of tiffs out of the public eye. “Girl, handle business behind closed doors,” she said.
A bit of backstory: Kathy Griffin lost her long-time slot hosting NBC’s New Year’s Eve special to Andy Cohen. Griffin was axed after she made the decision to pose for a photo holding a faked version of President Donald Trump’s severed head. Cohen replaced her alongside Anderson Cooper for this year’s upcoming ball-drop.
With that news out there and the recent Harvey Weinstein scandal still lingering in the air, Griffin decided the time was ripe to drop some dirt. In addition to stories about her own interactions with the disgraced producer, she shared that Cohen offered her drugs both times that she appeared on his talk show.
“I’ve actually done Watch What Happens Live twice in the 10 years it’s been on,” she said. “Both times I did the show right before we went live, Andy Cohen privately asked me in an office in Embassy Row which is the production compnay that does that sh*tshow, if i wanted to do blow.”
She went on to say that this is odd, just in case people got the wrong idea. “Jimmy Kimmel or Seth Myers has never asked me to do blow before going on the show. No one on The View has ever asked me to do blow before a show,” she continued. “So I’m hoping he’s kidding.”
Making Cohen’s PR people cringe in their seats, the Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List star covered her statements in case Cohen tried to deny them. Griffin added that Cohen will claim he’s kidding, but said that he absolutely was not joking around in the moment.
“He is going to say he was kidding — no,” she said. “He was asking me to do cocaine with him. That made me very uncomfortable.”
Cohen has denied all the allegations against him, saying that Griffin’s story is entirely false. “I am completely stunned by this story,” he wrote on Twitter. “It is 100% false and totally made up.”
Griffin has yet to respond to Cohen’s naysaying, but you can bet that this whole mess isn’t over. It’s going to keep happening.
