He's going harder than ever this time.
Gucci Mane is finally out of prison, and the hip hop community has been rejoicing since his release. The Atlanta rapper has been having a field day with making new music, and is almost done making his first post-prison album. Now, the hit-maker just did his first post-jail interview with Billboard, and he reveals some proof that he’s gotten his life together.
Gucci Mane did a two-year sentence in prison
Back in early 2014, the rapper was found guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was then sentenced to a plea deal that would keep him incarcerated until late 2016, but fortunately became eligible for early release. His original release date was slated for September 20, 2016.
The rapper was released last month, and fans were ecstatic
When the rapper got out of prison early, fans went into a frenzy. While he is on house arrest for the time being, Guwop has still been pushing out new music for his loyal fan base. The rapper dropped a brand new song as soon as he got home, lent a verse to G.O.O.D. Music for their new single, and started prepping his new album.
He just did his first post-jail interview
This week, the rapper finally did his first post-prison interview with the New York Times, and it looks like he’s finally gotten himself together. He told the outlet, “I felt like I couldn’t make music sober, I couldn’t enjoy my money sober. Why would I wanna go to a club and couldn’t smoke or drink? I felt like sex wouldn’t be good sober. I associated everything with being high….In hindsight I see it for what it was: I was a drug addict. I was naïve to the fact that I was numb. I can’t say I felt happy my last six, seven years in the music business. I was just numb. You told me that I was doing good or told me I was doing bad, you hated me or loved me, either which way I greeted with nonchalance. It was sincere nonchalance — like, I really didn’t care.”
