This could be the biggest rap battle ever!
This past Wednesday, Hot 97 personality Ebro Darden revealed a juicy tidbit of information during his show, Ebro in the Morning. During one of his segments, he briefly explained how he and Drake spoke this past weekend at Drizzy’s OVO Fest in Toronto. While speaking on his highly-publicized beef with Joe Budden, Drake was baited by Ebro into talking about sparring with one of the most prolific emcees to ever grace the game: Eminem. Drake’s response definitely caused tremors in the rocky world of rap.
Ebro claims that Eminem wants a piece of Drake
While Ebro jawed away about Eminem allegedly aiming to diss Drake, he later mentioned that the Toronto rapper wasn’t intimidated one bit by the daunting task of tangoing with the 8 Mile emcee. “I told Drake that I heard the rumor was Eminem was going to gear up to come after him,” he said. “He laughed. He was like, ‘That’s not gonna happen.’ He’s like, ‘He’d never do that. And if he did, I got something for him, too.'”
The Eminem rumor surfaces amid the Drake-Joe Budden beef
For the past few months, Joe Budden and Drake have been embroiled in a beef consisting of the Jersey rapper loading off four lyrically-charged diss tracks at Drizzy. Rather than reciprocate the same energy, Drake’s attempts have been very few and far in between. Of course, this tactic has been perturbing his adversary, Joe Budden, considering he’s been vying for a competitive match-up with the hottest rapper in the game today.
It all started in the DM…
Last week, in an interview with ESPN’s Cari Champion, Joe Budden explained how Drake contacted him through direct messaging on Instagram. He mentioned how Drake dared him to release 25 diss tracks before his New York City stop on his Summer 16 Tour. If Joe obliged and was able to win the task, Drake would award him $10,000. Budden refused to show the DMs, because he’s “just from a generation that doesn’t behave like that. I just expect if I’m rapping at somebody for them to not DM me a bunch of soft stuff.”
