26 Years in the Game
Ice Cube broke out onto the rap scene as a hardcore, gangster rapper. With songs like “Straight Outta Compton,” “F**k the Police,” and “Express Yourself,” he and his N.W.A. group members were largely controversial. But, there was always a tender guy under the roughness.
Even through his transition from ruthless rapper to family movie actor, there’s one title that’s always remained the same: husband. Celebrating their wedding anniversary, Ice Cube and his wife have been married since the beginning of his career, and they couldn’t be stronger. With all of the recent break ups between prominent couples, Ice Cube gives a little advice on how to make a marriage work in the industry.
Ice Cube, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, Sr., married Kimberly Woodruff on April 26th, 1992. Together the couple shares four children: Darrell, O’Shea Jr., Kareema, and Shareef. In a 2016 interview, Cube revealed the secret to keeping his family together for over 24 years.
On the Today show, Cube credited Kimberly as the secret to his long marriage. “She’s my backbone. Kim is my confidant. I wouldn’t be here without her,” he said, crediting her for keeping him grounded.
Still in Love
In an interview with Rickey Smiley, Cube admitted, “It’s a true partnership. I respect my wife and she respects me. I still get the butterflies when I see her.”
So, how did they remain true after all of these years? Cube reveals that just because they’ve been together for years doesn’t mean the fire has fizzled.
