His death was a homicide
The tragic and senseless killing of Freddie Gray by Baltimore police officers has been in the media spotlight for over a year now. The young adult’s death was ruled to be a homicide by a medical examiner last year, but, unfortunately, all three officers involved in his death were acquitted of the charges against them. That means that there is now technically no one responsible for his murder, despite it being labeled as one. Like a majority of the nation, the hip hop community was devastated and outraged to learn of the news, and gave their own reaction.
Killer Mike has never been known to stay silent on social issues, especially those that are unjust, and he made sure to speak on the Freddie Gray convictions. It’s clear that he is highly upset with the judicial system, and how the government is handling all of these senseless police killings.
YG is not a man of many words when it comes to speaking on his passions, but he always knows how to get the message across. While he’s currently promoting his “F**k Donald Trump” anthem right now, he took a break to make sure his fans knew how he felt about the police system.
Solange Knowles has always voiced her opinions that not only affect her, but human lives altogether. It’s clear that her responding tweet to the lack of convictions is a case of her being shocked by the news, as are most Americans.
