You won't believe who's starring in it
It’s been twenty years since some of the best rappers the world has known were callously murder in the street, and, unbelievably, their murders have yet to be solved, though there are some out there who think they’ve unraveled the conspiracies behind their untimely deaths. Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. were set to take over the rap game, but were cut down before they could reach the top. Finally, a film is about to start production that will examine their tragic deaths.
The world lost a lot when Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. were gunned down in the street six months apart. Tupac died in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. He died a few days later in the hospital. Biggie was similarly killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997 and died within an hour.
To this day, the murders still go unsolved, though there are many theories about what led to them. The documentary Murder Rap: Inside the Biggie and Tupac Murders asserts that P. Diddy had a lot to do with it. He may have told the Crips to kill Tupac and rapper Suge Knight, and that Knight paid to have Biggie killed after Tupac died. Regardless, no one was ever charged with the crime.
Director Brad Furman is tackling the murder mysteries in his new film based off of an investigative book that will take into account the circumstances leading up to their deaths and the messy aftermath; LAPD detective Russell Poole discovered that an LAPD officer named David Mack had ties to Suge Knight, who may have been involved in Biggie’s murder. Poole was told to stop the investigation and resigned from law enforcement. You won’t believe who’s playing Poole in the new film!
