Pictures of the D are forever
A picture of Tupac Shakur’s privates is currently up for sale. And the shot of Lil Makaveli can be yours for just over $7k.
According to TMZ the photo is going up for sale thanks to an ex-girlfriend of Tupac’s. She’s looking to sell a whole set of photos from an early ‘90s party via an auction house. However, the most scandalous shot by far is the intimate shot which she told the gossip website that she’s willing to part with for $7,500 in a private sale.
According to the auction house, Tupac had a habit of dropping his pants around friends. This particularly moment was only different because someone had a camera. Check out their description of the photo set below
”A collection of Tupac Shakur original photographs and negatives featuring a graphic nude photograph of Tupac. Taken at a house party in Marin, California in 1990, the story behind the nude photograph is that Tupac would, on occasion, drop his pants when least expected and catch his friends by surprise. On this particular night, when a friend was about to take group shot, he did it again! She told him that she was going to zoom in if he didn’t pull his pants up fast, but he just smiled at her and didn’t budge. And so, she took the picture!”
TMZ also reveals that she’s looking to get rid of the photo set even if she doesn’t receive her minimum reserve bid. So, get on it if you really need a framed photo of Pac’s D.
It’s been a great year for finding old Tupac photos. A hip-hop historian putting together a book on the history of hip-hop photography called The Contact High Project found out that the world of rap in the early ‘90s was even smaller than previously thought.
While looking for photos of Tupac at a New York party, he couldn’t help but notice a familiar and fresh face in the shot. On the project’s Instagram page, they explained what it was like to see Nas when you were looking for Pac.
“Alright you guys want the full story? On July 23, 1993 photographer Al Pereira took his camera to @djclarkkent DJ battle which is where our contact sheet begins,” they explained. “Later that night there was a party at a club called Amazon on the Westside Highway. Tons of people were there including a pre-#illmaticNasir Jones. I originally asked the photographer to see this contact sheet because of the well known Biggie and Tupac shot and as I was looking at it.”
His mind was blown to see Nas before he turned the rap world on its head with his debut.
“I noticed a baby-faced Nas,” he shared. “Or as Large Professor called him at the time ‘the rapper’ Nas. So I asked the photographer ‘hey did you know you had Nas in these photos?’ and he had no idea. He just remembered a young kid in his shot. That’s why these shots were never printed. The photographer didn’t remember!”
