Instead of new music, he put out a new hairstyle
Eminem has been tearing up the charts and shaking up the entire rap genre since he released his debut album in 1996 after years of trying to prove himself worthy and rise from his terrible circumstances. He made it all the way to the top, and he did it with his closely-shaven, bleach-blond hair and hairless face. His blue eyes peered into the audience with the ferocity and anger of a young man who was beaten down his whole life before getting everything he ever wanted.
Now, that familiar look has changed. Eminem went back to a more natural state, and his fans are losing their minds.
We haven’t seen a lot out of Eminem for the last few years since he released his last album in 2013. The Detroit rapper has relegated himself to producing music for other artists, making a few festival appearances, going on short international tours, and being featured on some tracks for other artists.
He did, however, have a few words for our POTUS Donald Trump in the track “Campaign Speech.” He also stated that he was working on a new album, but no further details have come out about it. If he did release an album this year, it would be his first in four years.
Quite the Pair
Eminem has also been busy promoting the upcoming four-part HBO documentary entitled The Defiant Ones, which explores in detail the professional and personal relationship between Eminem’s musical mentor Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. Both men are producers of music and film, and they founded Beats Electronics together, which was bought out by Apple for $3 billion.
Jimmy told Variety about their unlikely partnership and friendship: “I can’t put my finger on it. Our relationship is just really cool. This is a good movie about friendship and overcoming extraordinary things.”
The Big Picture
Eminem along with many other musicians from various genres will be interviewed in the documentary, which is supposed to be a hit for HBO. At the premiere party in Los Angeles in June, the biggest players of the documentary came out to celebrate the show’s release. Eminem made an appearance behind the scenes, avoiding the red carpet as much as he could, but he did take a very interesting photo with his close friend and mentor Dr. Dre and rapper Kendrick Lamar. It wasn’t the legendary musicians making waves in the picture, it was Eminem’s hairstyle…
