As Drake continues to watch his name being battered to the ground by rappers wailing for attention, he finds new ways to amaze. This time around, Drake conquered another monumental feat, which has him walking along the same lines as Michael Jackson. Hate it or love it, Drake is nearing legendary status.
Drake ties Michael Jackson on Billboard for…
Having the number one single and album simultaneously for seven consecutive weeks. That’s right, Drake’s poignant single, “One Dance,” and his monstrous fourth album, Views, have owned Billboard for the past two months. Not only does that record tie Michael Jackson, but it makes him and Drake the only two male artists to accomplish such a feat.
As for the record?
That belongs to Whitney Houston and The Beatles. They each owned the Hot 100 and Hot 200 at the same time for 12 weeks respectively. To be in a class with MJ, Whitney, and The Beatles, definitely holds a lot of weight for an artist, especially a hip hop one at that.
Drake still has a lot of work to do
In order to be enshrined on the wall of greatness in music, Drake still has to earn more number one singles. Granted, he has over 20 as a featured artist, but, as a solo act, he just earned his first one this year with “One Dance.”
