Is he looking better or worse than his skinny self?
DMX has been dealing with so much legal drama over the past years that he hasn’t been able to do anything other than show up to court and plead his case. Since the late 90s, the former Ruff Ryder has been in and out of not only court but jail as well for a variety of charges, including resisting arrest, reckless driving, animal cruelty, failure to pay child support, and drug possession.
Oh… There was that weird night in 2004 when he told some people he was a federal agent at the JFK Airport and tried to take their car too. He was even taken in one day in 2013 for driving without his driver’s license!
While those charges were all serious, this latest rap has been threatening to put him behind bars for over 40 years. X is already 46 years old, so a 40 year sentence in prison would not be good. It’s possible he would never get out of prison.
While that’s a very scary thought for him, DMX is looking better than he has in quite a while, thanks to sobering up. Let’s hope he can maintain this positive attitude.
In July, he was charged with one felony count of attempting to interfere with the administration of the U.S. internal revenue laws, seven felony counts of willful attempted tax evasion, and six misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file tax returns. These 14 charges could put him away for 44 long years!
At the time of the first hearing, DMX was looking very thin and unhealthy. While he was awaiting his most recent hearing, DMX went to rehab to get clean of mind and body so that he could have a truly fresh start no matter how this thing turned out.
TMZ caught up with DMX outside of THE court building in New York City that he has been visiting every few months for his hearings for the bad tax fraud case. DMX didn’t want to comment too much on his stint in rehab or how the case is going for him, but he did look larger than he did just a few months ago.
Working For Freedom
DMX’s lawyer did say that the rapper had gained about 40 pounds while he was in rehab, and he certainly showed it. It’s not a bad look, however. His fans seem to be happy that he is thicker around the middle because he doesn’t look sickly at all.
The TMZ cameraman asked him exactly how much weight he gained, and DMX responded, “I don’t know. You have a scale?”
One good thing that has come out of this drawn-out trial is that DMX has been granted the legal right to tour. He can start making some money and, hopefully, be able to pay off the nearly 20-year-old debt to the feds.
He probably also still owes his baby-mama-of-four some cash too. He was jailed in July 2015 for six months because he owed $400,000 in child support.
