He went on not-so-fantastic voyage.
The last time we heard of old school rapper Coolio was probably around the time he was poppin’, which was eons ago. We rarely see or hear of him unless it’s a walk down memory lane or a throwback performance of one his hits from the 90s. He’s been out of the spotlight for years, but every now and again, he pops his head in for something as outrageous as his hair. Over the weekend, Coolio, whose real name is Artis Ivey, surfaced after he was involved in incident that involved him, a loaded firearm and security.
Coolio and his crew were attempting to leave L.A. Saturday morning when one of his people got stopped by TSA at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Coolio had already made it through security and boarded the plane, but it was his bodyguard who was stopped after he tried to pass a loaded gun through security. He claimed the carry-on bag that contained the gun was his, but authorities later investigated and found out that the belongings in the bag happened to be Coolio’s.
Arrested & Booked
Coolio was taken off the plane for questioning. Both he and his bodyguard were detained until Coolio admitted the gun and bag was indeed his. The bodyguard was released without charges. Coolio was then arrested and charged with possession of a loaded firearm in an airport.
Shortly After He Was Released
He was taken into the LAPD Pacific Station Saturday where he was released on a $37,808 bail. His stay wasn’t lengthy. Later that night, he posted a video, talking about the incident and thanking fans for their support…
