Chris responded perfectly
After making it through Rihanna’s domestic violence case against him and his very public break up with ex-girlfirend Karreche Tran, Chris Brown has been doing better. While the “Privacy” singer was making headlines left and right during late 2016 and into early 2017, he’s been quiet recently.
His Netflix original documentary Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life kept him on fans’ minds though. The 82-minute feature gave viewers undisclosed details about private parts of the star’s life, from his relationship with Rihanna to his daughter Royalty to his remarkable claim to fame. Because the Fortune artist doesn’t give a lot of interviews, the documentary allowed fans to see a new, more positive side of Chris.
In keeping with his more up-beat and collected public image, Chris Brown didn’t sweat it when Charlamagne the God bashed him on the air.
Killing Them With Kindness
Earlier this week, The Breakfast Club hosts Charlamagne, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee were supposed to welcome Chris to their radio show and discuss his recent ventures. When the time came, though, Chris was nowhere to be found! With the suddenly free segment, Charlamagne called him out for “looking like he’s on drugs in interviews” on air.
Afterwards, Chris took to Instagram to explain himself and apologize. He posted a screen shot of a note he wrote, reading, “BREAKFAST CLUB!!! I LOVE YALL! I APOLOGIZE FOR NOT COMING TO THE SHOW! POP UP SHOW TODAY AND I WAS HORSE AS SHIT FROM STUDIO… ILL CALL PERSONALLY SO WE CAN PEACE IT UP!”
With emojis throughout, the “Pills & Automobiles” artist captioned the photo:
“hoarse!!! AND I UNDERSTAND THAT THE NEGATIVE SH*T THAT IS SAID BECAUSE YALL FEEL HURT. All good… I’ll let y’all have that. . HOPE THAT HELPS YALL STATUS! Love you (I’m glad to know how yall really feel though.) guess god don’t make mistakes! SHOW TONIGHT… y’all invited too.”
Adamant that Chris missing the interview had nothing to do with his comments, Charlemagne later replied, “No. I called him out for looking like he’s on drugs in interviews. God Bless Him. Hope he’s ok.”
This is growth
Chris’s tame, light-hearted response is a far cry from where he was a year ago. It totally proved that he’s in a different head space. His fans could not have been more proud of him, showering him with love and support after his response.
Instagram user sigliere_ said, “This is GROWTH !!! …I’m so proud of you boy !!!”
“Pray you feeling better. You have such great talent and God Blessed You with your gift of talent. Ignore negative energy it’s just a distraction to keep you from your blessings. I’m an Old School but you will always be one of my favorites,” offered user fulloflife9.
Agreeing with Chris that God does not make mistakes, user shenasha89 wrote:
“Thats right! God doesn’t make mistakes. Their true feelings are out now, so what was the reason for even wanting you on their bs show?? Even in the midst of all the negative things said, they still needed you for those ratings 🤣🤣🤣. Hence the salty flavor they’re more than likely tasting thats causing the negativity. @chrisbrownofficial.”
diva92_ concurred, writing, “God doesn’t make mistakes and that interview was cancelled for a reason. Chris knew that they were just gonna try and bring him down. Breezy ain’t here for the negative. I can see the growth. I’m proud of yu❤ @chrisbrownofficial”
Instagram user mischicc took the time to reprimand Charlamange himself, saying, “Charlamagne the female version of Wendy Williams. So woke, but still talk down on black folks. Smdh. Keep it moving @chrisbrownofficial”
