Cardi isn't ready to say the L word
Cardi B and Offset aren’t exactly hiding the fact that they like each other. The pair have turned up on each other’s arms (and just turned up in general) at plenty of events and concerts. However, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper isn’t ready to say those three little words.
Even though rabid fans have already been sent into fits by photos of a yellow ring, Cardi isn’t quite there yet. When The Breakfast Club asked her if she was in love with the Migo, she pushed back a bit. For regular, degular, schmegular girls like her, the word love don’t come easy.
“Why you gotta use the ‘L’ word?” she asked. “You know what? Things were going cute until … I’ve gained a couple of weights, you know what I’m saying? Everything’s all good with him. It’s healthy … You know, I’m too gangster to use those type of words [in love].”
Keeping It Real
The only “forever” Cardi B is thinking of involves beef. The rapper also revealed that her new album probably won’t be ready by October like she promised her fans. The issue is Cardi can’t seem to decide which ten songs to give to her diehards.
“I wanted to drop next month,” she said. “Every single time I think I got all the 10 songs it’s like, I’m buggin. These ain’t it. It’s just like, ‘Damn I’m competing with myself. I’m competing with the goddamn #2 record [on the Billboard Hot 100] and stuff.’”
She also brushed back the idea that she’s waiting too long to follow-up her hit single, which has been steadily creeping up the charts to its current position near the top.
“Y’all know I just put the song [‘Bodak Yellow’] out three months ago?” she said. “Can I work the record? I got something, but can I just put it out when this record just came out? I got something for y’all. I’m gonna drop something in October.”
It’s not an album, but any single that Cardi thinks is a worthy successor to “Bodak” is probably worth a spin or seven!
Watch The Interview
Cardi’s unfiltered honesty is one of the most appealing things about her. She’s never going to say anything less than true and talk about her boo is no exception.
The straight talk was of a piece with her response to the idea that she made it to her currently position by sleeping with people in the music industry.
“You know what be p**sing me off is when people be like ‘H*es is winning,’ ‘I f**ked myself to the top.’ Do y’all know how I got put on?” she said in a clip explaining how hard she had to work to become as famous as she is now. “I got put on doing videos and people following me. Did I f**k my followers? Did I f**k Mona Scott to be on Love & Hip Hop? Y’all n**gas really need to stop discrediting my s**t.”
Watch the interview up top. What do you think? Are Cardi B and Offset in trouble or is she just not ready to drop the L word? Are you excited for her “Bodak Yellow “ follow-up? When will we get that album? And will it be full of more hits like “Bodak” or is Cardi done for?
