Boosie looks like Bambi out there!
One of the best things about following celebrities on social media is getting to see them do extravagant things… and regular things. Because we follow him on Instagram we learned that Louisiana rap legend Boosie Badazz is a lot of things, but professional ice skater certainly isn’t one of them. The Baton Rouge native uploaded a handful of videos to his Instagram, showcasing his ice skating skills. After watching them all several times, let’s just say he won’t be trying out for the Winter Olympics anytime soon…
“Ice skating with the kids,” the BooPac rapper says to the camera in his first of four videos. “S**t the hardest s**t I ever done in my life!”
He’s not lying. From there the videos document Boosie hitting the ice for what seems to be the first time in his life. Using what looks like a geriatric walker for support, Boosie gets his bearings right before our eyes as one of his eight kids yells out from the background, “You slow, Daddy!”
What’s with the walker?
Like Boosie, we here at Hip Hop My Way aren’t really skaters. We never knew that you could actually use training walkers on the ice, but apparently it’s a real thing.
As soon as Boosie got his bearings on the walker, he was off to the races… sort of. It became evident that he skipped the “how to turn” portion of his skating lesson and nearly ran over a kid who fell down in front of him.
Eventually, Boosie was able to ditch the walker and shred the ice all on his own… like a rapping Wayne Gretsky.
Wipe me out!
Miraculously, Boosie Badazz manages to stay upright in all four of his ice skating videos. Judging by how shakily he was on those skates, that’s probably the most impressive thing about this story.
The way he was flailing his arms about (like a person falling out of an airplane) must have made it feel pretty uncomfortable for a lot of the other skaters to be within a few feet of him. He could have whacked someone in the face! Luckily, that never happened (at least on video).
Watch the videos for yourself below. Before you judge his skills on the ice, ask yourself this: Could you do any better? The guy is from Louisiana! Of course, he’s a horrible skater!
Watch Him Go!
Okay, so Boosie is no Tara Lapinski, but at least he tried!
In December of 2017, Boosie released his seventh studio album, BooPac. An ambitious double album that reminded everyone that Boosie sits on the high council of southern hip-hop royalty.
Boosie opened up to XXL about why he chose to name it after Tupac:
“I named it BooPac because it was a lot of pressure from my fans to name it BooPac, too. A lot of people didn’t grow up on 2Pac. He affected me in a way where he made me want to rap and tell my story. He wasn’t afraid to talk about what I went through. So 2Pac was a heavy influence on my career as far as me wanting to not fabricate my story, me wanting to really rap about what I really went through.”
Judging by the way he skates, maybe it’s best that Boosie stick to music and not spring for a career in figure skating anytime soon.
