New Orleans has always been known as the birthplace of jazz. But there is way more to the city than the classic genre. I should know, it’s my hometown. The 504 has so much talent brewing from its roots that it’s hard not to give artists recognition. Of course, the world knows heavy-hitters Lil Wayne, Curren$y, Jay Electronica, and both camps from Cash Money and No Limit Records, to name a few, but the following rappers you are about to see are NOLA’s truest gems. From being homeless to being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, these artists never stopped their grind to make their place known in the industry.
