2 Live Crew is a rap group that started back in the early 80’s and had a quick rise to fame. Over the years, the group has consisted of members Mr. Mixx, Brother Marquis, Uncle Luke, Amazing Vee, Fresh Kid Ice, and Verb. Unfortunately the life of Fresh Kid Ice was taken on Thursday, July 13th. The legendary group got a lot done in their day, but the shocking loss is leaving fans heartbroken.
Despite being known as a huge presence in the Miami hip hop scene, the 2 Live Crew group actually started in California. David “Mr. Mixx” Hobbs was the leader of the operation, but both Kid Fresh Ice and Amazing Vee were there right from the start. After the group moved to Miami, they started to take off.
After their hit single “What I Like” took off, a local Miami rapper by the name of Luke Skyywalker gave them a record deal and they never looked back.
The legendary group got smaller this Thursday morning, as Fresh Kid Ice passed away due to a medical condition, according to the group’s manager. At just 53-years-old, he was lost way too early.
His real name was Chris Wong Won, and he really became one of the biggest members in the group from his talents.
Former 2 Live Crew member Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell took to Instagram to talk about the loss. “My condolence goes out to the family of Fresh Kid Ice Chris Wong Wong of the 2 Live Crew who passed away this morning we lost a legend. R.I.P. Chinaman,” he said.
A fan paid their respects to the legend in the comments, saying, “You will be missed!! I had the opportunity to meet this legend! God bless your soul and your families heats!”
