The World Boxing Organization has officially stripped Floyd Mayweather Jr. of his welterweight world title according to Floyd Mayweather Jr. was required to pay a sanctioning fee of $200,000 after he defeated Manny Pacquioa in their highly publicized fight in las Vegas on May 2, 2015. The deadline for Mayweather to pay the fee had passed and Mayweather didn’t pay up so his title was taken away.

The WBO confiscated the belt from Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Monday, July 6th after he refused to comply with the organization’s rules. Floyd Mayweather was awarded $220 million for defeating Manny Pacquioa in their fight that was deemed “The Fight Of The Century.” Although the WBO has taken away Mayweather’s title, they can never take away the win that Mayweather received.
