Best Rapper Food Lyric References

Ninety percent of hip-hop songs are about money, rags to riches, and B***ches. You can’t be too obvious about it, however. Rapping is all about double or hidden meanings and rappers have a knack for using their creatively chosen words to show how much money they have, how they got from the ghetto to Hollywood, and how many girls they get. One way (our favorite way) is with food. These rappers manage to use metaphors with caviar, lobster, and filet mignon pave the way for references about their status in society, their huge bank accounts and of course, their ability to catch any girl they choose. Here are our top favorite lines.

Is your favorite rap line in here??

Ghostface Killah, “Apollo Kids” (Supreme Clientele, 2000)

ziti
GhostKillah explained the meaning of this to Entertainment Weekly saying, “The rap’s good because it’s like ziti, which was my best food back then. I threw ‘strawberry kiwi’ on because I’m into experimenting. I was thinking of a style to write without nobody knowing what I was saying except for me.” OK Ghostkillah…

Big Daddy Kane, “Platinum Plus” (Big L’s The Big Picture, 2000)

Broccoli
If you didn’t get the reference, he’s talking about those Timberland shoes that were so popular (and still are) in the 90s.
