Back in 2005, JAY Z was gauging interest from Lil Wayne in hopes of reeling him to Roc-A-Fella records. According to Wayne, JAY Z offered him $175,000 to join the label. Wayne declined the offer and ultimately built an indomitable empire with him, Drake, and Nicki Minaj in Young Money.

This deal was almost signed, sealed, and delivered. Nas was THIS close to becoming a member of the triumvirate consisting of Irv Gotti, Ja Rule, and Ashanti in 2002. On “The Pledge” featuring him, Ja Rule, and Ashanti, many perceived his presence and verse as his way to stamping his allegiance with the label.
